Jonathan was elected to the Board in 2021 to fill the unexpired eight-year term of his father Pat Barrett, Jr. His term will expire in February 2026.
Raised in Lexington, Jonathan graduated from Central Holmes Academy in 1990. He attended the University of Mississippi where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Economics and English. After working for several years as an investment advisor for an international firm, Jonathan attended law school at Oklahoma City University. After graduation, he practiced law in Lexington with his father, Pat Barrett, Jr. -- something that was very special to both his father and him.
In 2012, Jonathan started his own law firm in Madison, Mississippi, where he practices today. He and his wife, Leigh, have two sons, Nathan and Anderson, who attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland.
Jonathan is an accomplished musician, playing and composing on multiple stringed instruments. His love is the electric guitar.
Jonathan continues to help many people in Lexington in a variety of legal matters, and he often spends time there at his hunting camp where he enjoys bow hunting. Holmes County, and Lexington, in particular, remain close to his heart.
