Charles Walton Campbell
Dr. Charles Walton Campbell of Lexington, Mississippi passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dr. Campbell had practiced in Lexington under the name Brumby and Campbell from 1962 until the present.
He is survived by his daughter, Christie Campbell Poer of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and his sons, Paul Campbell (Cindy) and Glenn Campbell (Virginia), both of Vicksburg. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wynne Campbell (Chris), Hayden Poer, Brad Noble (Elizabeth), Carlton Campbell, Walton Poer (Lucy Jane) and Craig Noble (Heather), and great grandchildren, Campbell and Grayson.
He served as an elder in the Presbyterian church in Lexington for a number of years. Memorial services will be Monday, Dec. 30, from the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and services will be held at 11 a.m. Mortimer-Southern Funeral Home, Lexington, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Biography of Dr. Charles Walton Campbell
Dr. Charles Walton Campbell, born August 8, 1933, in the Holmes County Community Hospital, was the son of Walter and Mai Charles Alexander Campbell of West, Mississippi. Raised in the tight-knit community of West, Dr. Campbell attended West Grammar School until 1948 before graduating from Durant High School in 1951. His academic journey led him to Millsaps College, where he majored in Pre-Med and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1954.
Following college, Dr. Campbell answered the call to serve his country. He spent two years in England in the Medical Corps of the United States Army, refining his skills as a compassionate caregiver. Upon completing his service, he returned to his passion for medicine and enrolled at the University of Mississippi Medical School. In 1962, he graduated and completed an internship at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, further developing his skills and compassion for patient care.
While in Medical School, Dr. Campbell married Carolyn Elaine Smith of Vicksburg, Mississippi. They moved to Lexington, Mississippi, in 1962 and raised three children together: Paul Samuel, Charles Glenn, and Carolyn Christie.
In his professional career, Dr. Campbell significantly impacted the Lexington community. He practiced medicine with Dr. Paul B. Brumby, forming the partnership of Brumby and Campbell, and practiced from 1962 until he passed away. He was deeply involved in the local healthcare system, serving as the chief of the medical staff at Holmes County Community Hospital, where he was born. He was also an active member of the local, state, and American Medical Associations, always striving to advance medical care in his community.
A devout Christian, Dr. Campbell served as a deacon at Lexington Presbyterian Church, where his faith and commitment to service were evident in every aspect of his life.
Dr. Charles Walton Campbell's legacy as a compassionate physician, dedicated community leader, and loving family man continues to inspire all who knew him.
