It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Richard "Bruce" Davis Jr., age 61, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16th, 2024 at his home in Thornton, MS. Mr. Bruce was a resident of Thornton, MS for the entirety of his life, other than while serving his country in the United States Air Force.
Bruce's stint in the military assisted him with the skills to be a talented and greatly appreciated technician for ATMs. Everyone at the banks around the counties of Holmes, Yazoo, Leake, and Humphreys always talked about how nice of a man Bruce was and how he always had a smile on his face.
Bruce was a genuine, caring, and unselfish man. His family and friends were his pride and his joy. Bruce was a man who would go above and beyond for those he cared for. His friends and family describe him as the ultimate man who took care of everyone. He was a card shark and enjoyed fishing, helping others, and relaxing on the porch and watching the hummingbirds. Bruce was a trusted friend who loved spending time with and teaching the children in his life. He always made sure everyone was safe and cared for.
Bruce is preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Ruby Davis and Earl and Gladys Johnson.
Bruce is survived by his parents Richard and Ruby Nell Davis of Lexington, MS, his sister Dawn Davis Dees (Marcus) of Houston, TX, his brother: Robert Davis of Yazoo City, MS, and sister Jennifer Davis of Madison, MS.
He is also survived by three nieces: Bailie (Haven) Cox, Abbigale Dees, and Tyler Davis, and nephew Ruger Davis, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends that he adored spending time with at Bee Lake.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mel Jenkins, London Jenkins, Trent Johnson, Craig Peeples, Danny Tate, Zack Killebrew, and Mitchell Harthcock.
Serving as active pallbearers are Marcus Dees, Jared Hendrickson, Davis Ables, Bryant Parrish, Keith Howard, and Corey Dowdy.
