Obituary

James “Jim” A. McNeer, Jr.

James “Jim” A. McNeer, Jr. passed away on November 18, 2023. Jim was born to James A. McNeer, Sr. and Virginia Dell Upshaw on June 27, 1946. Jim served in the U.S. Army for 8 years during Vietnam. He was the owner of a printing business in Ridgeland for 26 years. Jim had a love for the outdoors. He was a top-notch fisherman, loved to hunt and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish. Jim and his beloved wife, Debbie, enjoyed traveling and their life together on the farm. He was a caring husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed. He was predeceased by his parents, and sisters Betty Mitchell, and Joy Wortman. He is survived by his wife, Debbie McNeer, son, Philip McNeer (Kelly), siblings, Ellen Schwartz (Mickey), Banks Upshaw (Leatha), Cindy Shelton, Kathy Smith, Ricky McNeer, and step-children, Christie Hayes, Casie Burley (Blake), and Brad Jenkins (Jennifer). He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that he adored. The family of Jim would like to offer our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff of UMMC and CoxHealth in Branson, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 10-12 PM. The celebration of Jim’s life will take place at Southern Funeral Home located at 100 Pine Street, Lexington, Mississippi. The graveside service will follow immediately in Lexington at Longfellows Cemetery.
