Funeral services for Ms. Effie Sanders Rodgers, longtime resident of Lexington, were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Lexington. Officiating ministers were her pastors, the Reve. Mike O’Brien and the Rev. Andy ray.
Mrs. Rodgers died Thursday, February 16 at St. Dominic hospital in Jackson following several months illness. She was 79.
She was born on February 3, 1904 at Longview and was the widow of Carl Rogers. She was a homemaker, an active member of Oregon Memorial Church, and a member of the LLL club of First Baptist Church, Lexington, of which she was recently chosen “Queen for the year. She was also a member of the Oregon Bible Study Group and the Lexington Variety Club.
Survivors are three sons, Carl (Teat) Rodgers, Jr. and Billy Rodgers, both of Lexington, and Wayne Rodgers of Pascagoula; a daughter, Mrs. John Willie (Rachel) O’Kelly, jr. of Lexington; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home of Lexington in charge of arrangements.
Serving as active pallbearers were her grandsons.
