Obituary
Byron Sharpe Jr.

With deep love and enduring gratitude for his life, the family of Byron Baine Sharpe Jr. announces his passing on January 5th, 2026. A devoted husband, steadfast father, and cherished patriarch, Byron lived a life grounded in faith, humility, and grace. He loved God wholeheartedly, and his walk with the Lord guided the way he lived - with kindness, integrity, and quiet strength.

Born on December 19, 1950, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Byron B. Sharpe Sr. and Malie Gwin Sharpe, he was a lifelong resident of Tchula Mississippi. A proud 1968 graduate of CrugerTchula Academy, Byron also graduated from Mississippi State University in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in business while also being a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. As a loyal Bulldog fan, one of the highlights of his life was being present to witness the Bulldogs claim the 2021 baseball College World Series National Championship in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bryon was an accomplished farmer spending many decades growing cotton and soybeans on his family farm Albino Plantation. He then built a respected career in real estate, land, and hunting tract sales where he was known for his integrity and sharp knowledge for good dirt.

Byron was a family man who loved his grandchildren dearly and passionately supported them in their numerous sporting events. His love for them was unwavering, and there was never any question that Pop was their biggest fan.

Byron is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Sharpe, his partner in love and in life. He is also survived by his children: Chas Fulgham, of Yazoo City, Jennifer LeGoff and her husband, Jason, along with their children, Parker and Andrew, of Corinth, MS; Mary Lauren Howard and her husband, Matt, with their children, Sarah Presley, Avery, Elise, and Britton Howard, of Greenwood, MS; Baine Sharpe and his wife, Kathryn, with their children, Ray and Addy Kate, of Madison, MS; Durden Sharpe and his wife, Lacy, with their children, Phillip, Grace, and Allie, of Oakland, TN; and Ryan Sharpe, Tchula, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ray Phillip Sharpe and Paul Gwin Sharpe, Sr., and his nephews, Paul Gwin Sharpe, Jr., and William Elliott Sharpe.

To his family and friends, Byron was a man of steadfast devotion - one whose faith shaped every chapter of his life. He found his greatest joy in his family, and his legacy lives in his children and grandchildren, who will continue to reflect his love for the Lord and the Christian values he so faithfully modeled.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10th at 10 A.M. at Tchula Presbyterian Church with graveside service to follow at 11:30 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington, MS.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, those who loved him take comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully.
