As recalled by Jean Ervin Lindsey, daughter of Harden and Jean, "During WWII my father served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign. He was an accountant in the PX in Puerto Rico and at the Ashford Hospital owned by the Army and located at the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia."
