Alice Byrd Rainer
Alice Byrd Rainer, 83, passed away Saturday, November 3, at her home. Alice, better known as Byrd, was born in Lexington on December 16, 1928 to the parents of Morton and Clara Byrd. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Rainer.
Alice will always be remembered as the friendly South Central Bell telephone operator. She is survived by her sisters, Frances Wynne of Lexington, Freddie Farmer (Melvin) of West, and Sherry McClellan of Ridgeland, and her two brothers, Sam Byrd (Mable) of Cleveland, and Joe Byrd (Louise) of Samburg, Tenn.
She will be truly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington Monday, November 5 with Brother Mac Massey of Brookhaven presiding. The pallbearers were Johnny Allen, David Dillon, Eddie Dixon, James Killebrew, Frankie McCain and Ed Thurmond.
