Services Are Held
For M. D. Ballard
Funeral services for Marion Douglas Ballard, 68. retired barber, of Tchula, who died at 9 p. m. Wednesday night were held Thursday at 3 p. m. at the Baptist church in Tchula. The Rev. W. H. Wallace, pastor of the Methodist church, performed the last rites.
Mr. Ballard, who had lived in Tchula for the past 20 years, was born May 15. 1879 in Franklin county. He had been in ill health for some time and had been confined to his home for the past two years, where he was at the time of his death. He was a member of the Baptist church of Tchula.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. May Belle Ballard and one daughter, Mrs. V. C. Fite, both of Tchula; a brother, T. S. Teal, of Bossier City, Louisiana, two grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Oddfellows cemetery, Lexington with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were A. J. Black, W. E. Marshall. R. Tutterow, Joe Thomas, W. R. Huddleston, and George Crow.
