As recalled by daughter Jean Ervin Lindsey, "my mother was Miss Jonestown and a beauty at Ole Miss." Barbera Watt Ervin Barbera Ruth Watt Ervin, 96, of Lexington, MS, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at NHC Place at Cool Springs in Franklin, TN. Visitation was held on Sunday, October 11 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington until time for the services there at 3 p.m. Burial followed in Lexington at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Ervin was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Suzannah Wesley Friendship class.

Barbera was born June 2, 1913 in Jonestown, MS, to Thomas Henderson and Ada Jamison Watt. She attended Sophia Newcomb in New Orleans and Ole Miss where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She worked for TVA in Knoxville, TN, where she met her husband Harden. They married on April 2, 1939.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter: Harden (Gundi) Ervin of Coatesville, PA, Watt (Diane) Ervin of Lexington, and Jean (Roger) Lindsey of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren, Andrea Ervin, Harden (Emily) Ervin, Bridgette (Amos) Strickland, Sarah (Danny) Anderson, Charles Lindsey, and Elizabeth Lindsey; five great grandchildren, Tess Ervin, Devon Ervin, Dylan Ervin, Madeline Strickland, and Jonathan Strickland; and nieces and nephews, Oliver Dickens, Cissie Molinaro, Calvin Cosnahan, and Henderson Cosnahan.

Pallbearers were: Harden Ervin, III, Charles Lindsey, Calvin Cosnahan, Henderson Cosnahan, Amos Strickland, and John Stark.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Lexington, MS.
