W. B. “Will” Barrett
Funeral services for W. B. “Will” Barrett, 87, retired farmer and banker of Lexington, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Rev. Michael O’Brien was the officiating minister. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Barrett died of heart failure on Monday, February 21 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington and a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Mr. Barrett was a retired vice president of First National Bank of Holmes County, past chairman of the board of First National Bank of Holmes County, longtime member and past president of the Lexington Rotary Club where he received the first Paul Harris Fellow Recognition ever presented to a Lexington member.
Survivors include: his wife, Sue Drennan Barrett of Lexington; son, Bill Barrett of Lexington; stepdaughter, Jean Jackson of Greenville; brother, Pat M. Barrett of Lexington; two step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers were Pat Barrett, Jr., Don Barrett, Mac Phillips, Max Yates, Haeward Carter Green, Mike Jackson, and John Barrett Green.
