Obituary
Mrs. Beatrice Brand Duke
Mrs. Beatrice Brand Duke, 85, widow of Robert O’Neal Duke, died at Lakeland Nursing Center in Jackson, Wednesday.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 4 in the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Leslie Nabors officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Duke was a native of Chickasaw County, a daughter of Theophilus Brand Sr. and Elizabeth (Betty) Earl Smith Brand. She Was a long-time resident of Lexington, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Helen Duke Siegrest of Jackson and Mrs. Sadie Ella Lawshe of Lexington, and two granddaughters, Susan Duke Hinds of Louisville, Ky. and Joy H. Siegrest of Jackson.

Pallbearers were Bill McLellan, Sidney Henley, Winfred Holder, Jack Dunn, Marion Gino, Dan Pepper, Ray Johnson, and Bob McLellan.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John Downer, Pepper Tidwell and Gordon Ashley.
