Obituary
Hilda Hammett Bernhard
Graveside services for Mrs. Hilda Hammett Bernhard, 90, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 17 in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Rev. Doug Lawson officiated. Southern Funeral Home of Lexington was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bernhard died on Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Lexington Manor where she had been a resident for a number of years.

A native of Holmes County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin R. and Flossie Dodd Hammett of Lexington. She was a retired homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood.

Mrs. Bernhard was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Bernhard. Her sisters, Lelia Mae Hammett, Addie Lou Hammett Hearn, Jo Hammett King, and brothers, Jim Hammett, Dolph Hammett, and Bud Hammett.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Bernhard Pittman of Lakeland, Tennessee; sisters, Ruth Hammett Elledge of Lexington, Earline Hammett Seymour of Jacksonville, Florida, Maggie Hammett Martin, Ercile "Ben" Hammett Witt, and Bessie "Tish" Hammett, all of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were: Harold D. Hammett, Richard Hammett, Robert Hammett, Rob Hammett, Hal Hammett, and Recil Elledge.
