Bessie Thurmond

Mrs. Bessie Maddox Thurmond, widow of the late Walton Thurmond, died Wednesday in Greenwood Leflore Hospital, where she had been a patient for ??? days.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Gus Meritt officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mrs. Thurmond was a native of Holmes County, the daughter of John William Maddox and Ruberta Rhyne. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a member of the ???

Shis survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Reese of Lexington, a sister, Miss ??? Maddox of Lexington; ??? grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Pallbearers were Bill Mc???, Lute Ellison, Winfred ???, W.F. Scott, Ed Tye ??? and Robert Ware
