Obituary
Samuel J. Bridgers, III

Samuel J. Bridgers III, 48, a Belzoni police officer, died of heart failure Saturday at his home.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 21 in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Mortimer Funeral Home in Belzoni handled the arrangements.

Mr. Bridgers, a Lexington native, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belzoni and was a Mason, a Vietnam War veteran and recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He had worked as a police officer with the City of Belzoni for 22 years.

Survivors include: parents, Sam J. and Frances Vandiver Bridgers of Belzoni; sisters, Paula B. Griffin and Melinda B. Andrus, both of Moorhead.

Memorials may go to First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni.
