Bryan Charles Martin
LEXINGTON — Funeral services for Bryan Charles Martin of Oxford, and formerly of Tchula, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church of Lexington
Mr. Martin, 89, passed away in Oxford on Friday, June 7, 2013, following a prolonged illness.
Mr. Martin, a native of Tchula, was a businessman. He was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad and farming.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Martin served in World War II.
Mr. Martin will be remembered as a loving husband, father and family man.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lindy L. Martin; three sons, John N. Martin and Michael F. Martin of Oxford, and Stephen K. Martin of Tyler, Texas; four daughters, Mary Ellen Lucas of Panama City, Fla., Gayle M. Patton of Starkville, Crissy M. Barrett of Tchula and Romana M. Leflore of Greenwood; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington.
Father Adam Szufel will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mr. Martin's grandsons, Chad Corley, Richie Martin, Bryan N. Martin, Patrick Martin, Lance Lucas, Crosby Martin, Lee Leflore and Kelly Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Lucas, William Leflore Jr., James C. Patton Jr., James A. Barrett, Oliver Harris, Robert Mitch Corley, James E. Killebrew and Billy Ellis.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery of Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, or St. Thomas Catholic Church of Lexington.
