Charles M. Howard Funeral Rites
Held Monday In Tchula
Funeral services for Charles Monroe Howard, 63, Tchula resident, were held Monday, December 16, from the Tchula Baptist Church with the Reverend James Sadler officiating, assisted by the Reverend C. J. Olander. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington with Southern Funeral Home of Lexington in charge of arrangements
Mr. Howard died Sunday, December 15, at the Holmes County Community Hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was born in Newcastle, Alabama on May 25, 1900.
A retired merchant, Mr. Howard was also a member of the Baptist Church, a veteran of World War I and a Shriner.
He is survived his wife, Mrs. Gladys Durham Howard, daughters, Mrs. Alice Estrada of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Nancy Powell of Houston, Texas; two sons, Calvin M. Howard of Yazoo City and Charles R. Howard of Chicago; one brother, Frank Parker of Birmingham , two sisters, Mrs. Irene Hendricks of Birmingham and Mrs. Mildred Shaw of Decatur, Georgia and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ellis Harris, Carl Booth, Hugh Garnett, Will Peterman, Bobby Peterman, Terry Smith, Johnny Roberts and Clifford Smith.
