Mrs. Claudia Gelston Scott, 81, died of heart failure Sunday, January 3 at her home in Lexington following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Scott were held on Tuesday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Officiating minister was the Rev. Michael O’Brien. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
A native of Attala County, Mrs. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington where she was a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the adult choir; she served on the Lord’s Supper Committee and the Baptismal Committee for many years. She and her late husband “Scott” owned and operated Orchid Beauty Shop for over fifty years.
Her husband, W. F. Scott, preceded her in death on Christmas Day, 1992. Survivors include: two brothers, Roy F. Gelston of Lexington and Tommy R. Gelston of West; three sisters, Pauline Cummins of Columbus, Reba Lewis of Jackson and Julia Johnson of Indian Rock Beach, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers were Billy Zeigler, Calvin Moore, Mike Lammons, Mack Grantham, Jack Farmer and Frank Rogers.
