SI-c Dudley Cox Drowns
In The South Pacific

Sl-c Dudley Cox, 27, son of Mrs. Irene Cox and the late H. D. Cox of Tchula, was drowned in the South Pacific in line of duty and service of his country. His wife was notified by an official Navy Department telegram received December 29th.

Sl-c Cox was a graduate of Tchula High School and Draughon’s Busineaa College in Jackson. Shortly after his graduation he was married to the former Miss Jeanette Gulledge of Jackson on August 31, 1937.

Prior to entering the service he was a bookkeeper for Joe Williams Electric Company in Jackson. He volunteered at the New Orleans Navy recruiting office March 15, 1942 and had been overseas thirty months in the Pacific War Sector. On December 1, 1944, he received the promotion to Chief Petty Officer. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jeanette Gulledge Cox of Jackson, and his mother, Mrs. Irene Cox of Tchula.
