Funeral Rites For Mrs. Griffin Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Daisy Newsom Griffin, 92, were held on Tuesday, April 30 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Crawford Ray officiating
Mrs. Griffin died at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, in the Holmes County Community Hospital after a short illness.
Burial was in Oddfellows cemetery in Lexington with Southern Funeral Home of Lexington in charge,
A native of Holmes County, Mrs. Griffin was active community affairs being a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Bessie Hall, in Lexington for several years.
Survivors are one son, Colonel Joel D. Griffin of Berryville, Va., one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Hambrick of Chicago, Ill., two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hall of Lexington and Mrs. Charles Matthews of Batesbury, S. C., one brother, William B. Newsom of Holly Springs, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were George McLellan, Malcolm Phillips, E. Cohen, Jack White, Ben Rathell, Sidney Henley, J. B. Watson and Doty Porter,
