Doug Gilmore Dies Of Heart Attack
Douglas Eugene Gilmore, well known Lexington mechanic and farmer, died suddenly at his home early Monday morning of a heart attack. He was 58.
Mr. Gilmore worked as a mechanic for Weathersby Chevrolet-Buick Company for many years before failing health forced his retirement. He was a member of the Oregon Memorial Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held from the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington at 2:00 p. m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Crawford Ray of officiating.
Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Southern in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Julia Barrentine Gilmore, Lexington; a son, William E. (Billy) Gilmore, Lexington and Greenwood; three brothers, J. E. Gilmore, Birmingham. Alabama, J. J. Gilmore, Durant and Claude Gilmore, Morton; two sisters, Mrs. H. B. Moss, Vicksburg and Mrs. Nona Maxwell, Jackson.
Pallbearers were employees of Weathersby’s as follows: Norman Weathersby, Frank Hughes, Bill McLellan, Edgar Gwin, Billy Upchurch, Roy Spell, Boyd Moss, Hilton Holley, Earl Ellis, Vernon Hathcock, Roy Young, Mack Grantham, John McBride, Z. D. Spell and Dan Pepper, also Paul Weems.
