Obituary 

Herbert Downer Services Held In Lexington Oct. 19

Services for Henry Herbert Downer, 75, who died Oct.17, were held Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. from Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington.

Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. Leslie Nabors officiating the services.

A native of Holmes County, Mr. Downer was a merchant and farmer. He was a Methodist. His parents were the late Henry Clifford and Mary Melton Downer.

Survivors are: wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Herring Downer, Lexington; five daughters, Mary Louise Acy and Ruth Irene Downer, both of Houma, La., Emily Margaret Wilcox, Springfield, Mo., Dorothy Elizabeth Bishop, Jackson, Patricia Marie Hanna, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Henry Herbert Downer, Jr., Corsicana, Tex. and Joseph Allen Downer, Lexington; one sister, Willie Davis Strickland, Lexington; two brothers, George S. Downer, Gulfport and Marshall Downer, Lexington; and l8 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Clayton Spell, Dutch Moore, Otho Ivy, Edward Powell, Paul Weems and Charles Melton.
