Mrs. Ella Rhyne Rites Held Friday, Jan. 4 Mrs. Ella Florence Rhyne, 84, a member of one of Holmes County's oldest families, died Thursday, January 3, at 3:20 a.m. at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood, where she had been for two weeks.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, at 2:00 p.m. from the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. E. G. Potts, of Durant conducting. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
She was born and reared in Holmes County and had lived here all her life. She was the daughter of the late James and Sallie Montgomery, owners and founders of the once famous Owens Well Health resort east of Lexington. She was a Methodist.
She leaves one son, James Rhyne of Lexington; four daughters, Mrs. Paul Jennings of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Madaline Arnold of Memphis, Tenn., Miss Helen Rhyne of Jackson, Mrs. J. P. Holmes of Durant, and one sister, Mrs. W. H. Wilson, also of Memphis.
Pallbearers were W. R. Sullivan, Ben Rathell, Carl Rogers, Jim(?) Clower Johnson Pepper Tidwell, and John Word.
