Ellanor Hooker Ellis Memorial services for Ellanor Hooker Ellis will be at the Trinity Methodist Church Chapel on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at two o'clock pm. She died on Friday, March 13, 2009, at Washington Care Center, one day short of her ninety-third birthday.

Boone-Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Jackson, Mississippi on March 14, 1914, to Dr. Otho Douglas Hooker and Kathleen Wilburn Hooker, and she lived her childhood with her parents in Lexington, MS. She graduated from Southwestern (Rhodes College) at Memphis, Tennessee, and married Guy Kenner Ellis in 1937.

She moved to Greenville with her husband in 1940. During the World War II years, she and her family resided in Lexington, MS, Maryland, and Kansas, returning to Greenville in 1945.

She was a member of First Methodist Church, and later, a charter member of Trinity Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Greenville Junior Auxiliary, the Greenville Garden Club, and the Mah Jongg Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen E. Stovall, and her husband, Jody Stovall, of Leland, and her son Guy Kenner Ellis, Jr., of Greenville. She is also survived by three grandsons, Gregory O. Patton, M.D. of Oxford, MS, Clyde E. Patton of New Orleans, LA, Kenner M. Patton of Birmingham, LA and three grand-daughters, Ellanor Andrews Dukes, Kathleen Rebecca Gee, M.D., both of Birmingham, AL, and Kenner Caroline Ellis, as well as six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Trinity Methodist Church following the memorial service at two o'clock pm on Sunday, March 15, 2009, and the burial will be at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Lexington at eleven o'clock am on Monday, March 16, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.

Reverend Davis Carothers will officiate.
