Obituary

Edwin Ellison, Jr. Edwin Wilburn "Ed" Ellison, Jr., 84, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Union County in New Albany, MS.

Born February 9, 1926 in Kilmichael, MS. He was the son of the late Edwin W. Ellison, Sr. and Ethlyn McKibben Ellison. He was a retired Chief of Police of Lexington, MS, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Kathryn Sharp Ellison whom he married in 1948, and a veteran of WW II. He lived in Lexington for 75 years until moving to New Albany in 2004. He enjoyed having coffee and visiting with his friends.

Services were held at First United Methodist Church in Lexington at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 17 with the Reverend Joel Smith officiating. Burial followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Southern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his daughter Eleanor Ellison (Steve Williams) of New Albany, one son Edwin W. (Eddie) Ellison, III (Kristin) of Albertville, AL, and one brother Charles R. Ellison and wife Mary Jane of Hoenwald, TN, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers were Michael Edwin Duran, Nathan Alexander, Bob Ellison, Kenny Ellison, Mike Thomas and Dick Atkinson. (Visitation was Friday evening from 6 - 8.)
