Mrs. Emily Stansbury Swinney, 97, died Wednesday at the Holmes County Community Hospital where she had been a patient for two days.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 9 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Dan McKee officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Swinney was a lifelong resident of Lexington, a daughter of William Frisby Stansbury and Mary Durden Stansbury, prominent Holmes County families. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
Survivors are a Sister, Miss Lelia Stansbury of Lexington, and three nieces, Mrs. Herman Ward and Mrs. Jim Loflin, both of Clinton, and Mrs. Robert Fulton of New Orleans.
Pallbearers were Pat Barrett, Jr., Billy Ellis. Dan Pepper, Mark Henley, Thad Henley, and Ed Thurmond.
