Funeral Services For E. J. Sheppard Held July 30
Funeral services for Mr. Eugene Johnson Sheppard, 64, were held Friday, July 30, at 4:00 p.m., in the Tchula Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Joe Pips and the Reverend Howard Allen officiating. Burial followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Sheppard, who died at 1:30 pm., Thursday, July 29, in the Holmes County Community Hospital, was a merchant in Tchula for 35 years. He was a member of the Tchula Presbyterian Church, past president of the Tchula Lions Club, member of the Mason Tchula Lodge F&AM 122, a Shriner, an Elder in the Tchula Presbyterian Church and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Sheppard; one brother, Mr. Boyd Sheppard of Tchula; and one sister, Mrs. Edna Frey of Slidell, La.
Pallbearers were Eugene Herman, George Patterson Dr. Gordon Russell, Paul Wilson, Charlie Wade, Bob Thompson, John Edgar Hays and W.G. Gwin.
Honorary pallbearers were J.I. Shields, James Love, S.J. Foose, Jr., Ellis Harris, James Cunningham, Bernard Jones, Dean Shuttleworth, E.R. Green, Dr. P. B Brumby, Dr. Charles Campbell, O.W. Nixon, Courtney Perry, Marvin Smith, Durwood Dunn, and Norman Weathersby.
