Jack B. Farmer was born October 11, 1921 to Sam V. and Emma McLellan Farmer in West. Mr. Farmer was a sergeant in the 114th Field Artillery, Battery B in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1947, Mr. Farmer, along with R.S. Henley and Jack White, formed Lexington Hardware Co., where he remained employed until his retirement in the early 1990's.

He joined First Baptist Church in Lexington on October 26, 1934 and he served as a deacon since 1973. Since 1970, he served on the Building Committee, where he was the chairman. He was also a member of the Nathan Aldridge Sunday School Class.

Mr. Farmer was married to Doris Nowell Farmer. He had two sons, Billy M. Farmer and Dudley G. Farmer, both of Lexington, and one grandson, Matthew Gayden Farmer of Memphis, Tennessee.
