Obituary 

Jack B. Farmer

Funeral services for Jack B. Farmer, 83, of Lexington were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Lexington. Rev. Blain McLain and Thad Henley officiated with interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mr. Farmer died Friday, July 22, 2005 at his residence on Rockport Road. He was born October 11, 1921 to Sam V. and Emma McLellan Farmer in West.

Mr. Farmer was a sergeant in the 114th Field Artillery, Battery B in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

In 1947, Mr. Farmer, along with R.S. Henley and Jack White, formed Lexington Hardware Co., where he remained employed until his retirement in the early 1990's.

He joined First Baptist Church in Lexington on October 26, 1934 and he served as a deacon since 1973. Since 1970, he served on the Building Committee, where he was the chairman. He was also a member of the Nathan Aldridge Sunday School Class.

Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his wife Doris Nowell Farmer.

He is survived by two sons, Billy M. Farmer and Dudley G. Farmer, both of Lexington, and one grandson, Matthew Gayden Farmer of Memphis, Tennessee.

Pallbearers were: Timmy Angell, Bubba Holley, Jimmy Farmer, Sammy Massey, Dale Lott, and Christopher Massey.

Honorary pallbearers were: members of the Nathan Aldridge Sunday School Class, Reuben Netherland, Paul Gilmore, Virgil King, III, Len Ware, Jimmy Huggins, and Robert Earl Brown.
