Adelaide Ramsey Riley Fisher, 81, died February 23, 2015 at her home in Oxford, MS. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Oxford, MS at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place following the service at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Lexington, MS at 2:30 P.M. Visitation will take place Friday evening, February 27, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. 6:00 P.M. at Waller Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church prior to the service on Saturday.
Adelaide was born on February 11, 1934 in Lexington, MS. to William Allan & Jewel McKnight Ramsey. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School. She attended MSCW and Ole Miss, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
Adelaide married Tom Riley on October 10, 1954. They lived in Lexington with their three sons, Mark, Chris and Matt. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She served as Administrative Assistant to the Holmes County Superintendent of Education for 38 years, retiring in 1995.
In 1995 she married Bobby Fisher and moved to Greenwood, where she became a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church, The Explorer Bible Study, The Greenwood Garden Club and The Friends of Cottonlandia Museum. She served as a teacher in Sunday School there. After Bobbys death in 2008, Adelaide moved to Oxford and made her home there, becoming a member of First Baptist Church, where she continued her lifelong joy in serving as a Sunday School teacher.
Adelaide is survived by her sons Mark Riley of Wartrace, TN, Chris Riley and wife Lynn of Oxford, MS; Matt Riley and wife, Katherine, of Lexington, MS.; her grandchildren, Thomas Riley, Morgan Riley, Brooke Riley, John Christopher Riley, and Kate Riley; her step-son, Bob Fisher and wife, Catherine, and sons Martin and William; and her stepdaughter, Leigh Fisher Barnes and husband, Lee Barnes and their children, Mathew, Lindy Kate, Olivia and Mary Fisher, all of West Helena, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, and by her brother, Allan Ramsey, Jr.
