Mary Juanita Ballard Fite
Mary Juanita Ballard Fite, 85, a retired school teacher passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at Mimosa Manor in Keller, TX.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2005 at Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mrs. Fite was born February 28, 1920, in Amite County, MS. She graduated from Delta State Teachers College in Cleveland and taught school in Gore Springs for 3 years, followed by 40 years of teaching in various schools in Holmes County. After retirement she volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at Crittendon Memorial Hospital in West Memphis, AR. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Memphis, AR and the Elizabeth Grubb Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Verlin C. Fite, and her parents, Mabel and Douglas Ballard.
Survivors include: daughters, Judy Johnson and her husband Stephen of Westlake, TX, and Elaine Horn of Jacksonville, FL; son Jerry Fite of West Memphis, AR; and 2 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rick Thigpen, Wyche Hooker, Stephen Johnson, Larry Smith, Julian Watson, and Butch Cox
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, UT 84741, or to Metroport Meals on Wheels, P. O. Box 204, Roanoke, TX 76262.
