Funeral services were held Sunday, September 12, 1971, at 3:00 P.M. at Antioch Baptist Church for Mrs. Flossie Dodd Hammett, 86 of Lexington. Rev. David Pratt officiated with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mrs. Hammett died Friday September 10, at the Holmes County Community Hospital.
A native of Holmes County, she was the daughter of the late Rodulphous Dodd and Lou Bailey. She was a widow. Mrs. Hammett was a housewife and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
She is survived by nine daughters Miss Lela Mae Hammett, Biloxi; Mrs. Andrew Hearn, Lexington; Mrs. A. C. Bernhard, Greenwood; Mrs. R. E. Elledge, Greenwood; Mrs. C. W. Seymour, Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. A. W. Witt; Mrs. B. T. Allen and Mrs. Ray Martin, all of Dallas; and Mrs. John R. Booth, Lexington; four sons, Dolph Hammett, Lexington; Jim Hammett, Dallas; Bud Hammett, Dallas; and B. R. Hammett, Jr. Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother Jeff Dodd, West; four sisters, Mrs. Clifton Williams, Tchula; Mrs. J. N. Hall, Jackson; Mrs. Norville McCarty, Durant, and Miss Geneva Dodd, Durant, 49 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were her grandsons.
