OBITUARY

PFC Floyd E. Fuller Dies in Vietnam; Services Set for 2:00 P.M. Thursday

Floyd E. Fuller, Jr. of Lexington died in services of his country and for the cause of freedom on Tuesday, May 19. "Little Eddie" as he was known to his friends was killed in hostile action in Viet Nam.

Pfc. Fuller was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd E. "Eddie" Fuller. Mr. Fuller is owner and operator of Fuller Printing and Office Supply Company of Lexington.

The Fullers were notified Friday, May 22 at 6 a.m. of their son’s death, by a Sergeant of the United States Army. They received word late Tuesday of the time that "Little Eddie" would be returned home. The services will be with full military honors at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Church of Christ in Lexington.

Eddie entered the service on May 21, 1969. He finished basic training and advanced basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Private Fuller volunteered for the paratroopers and completed his Jump School training at Fort Benning, Georgia, receiving his paratroopers wings on October 21, 1969. (His father finished at the same Jump School site nearly 27 years ago.) "Little Eddie" left the United States for Viet Nam on November 30, 1959. He was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade.

Mr. and Mrs. Fuller talked to their son in Viet Nam 3 weeks ago on April 26 via a shortwave telephone transmission.

Fuller was a student at Lexington High School and a member of the band. He worked with a pipeline company prior to being drafted just over a year ago.

He was a Vietnam War Era casualty on May 19, 1970 and served with honor in the United States Army. He is remembered by the people of Mississippi. May his example inspire us to be strong and responsible global citizens. We can do great things together.
