Obituary
Francis J. Chastain
Funeral services for Francis Judson Chastain, 81, who died in Grenada Jan. 31, were held Monday in that city with burial in Lexington.

Mr. Chastain served as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lexington as well as answering the call to preach at Coldwater, Boyle, Shaw and Poplaville.

He retired to Grenada in 1967 after leaving a teaching position at William Carey College in Hattiesburg. Rev. Chastain was graduated from Mississippi College and later earned a doctor's degree from the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville. Ky.

In Grenada, Dr. Chastain was active in the First Baptist Church and he served as chaplain for the local American Legion organization. Also, he served four years as a Navy chaplain during World War II.

Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Mary Hudson Chastain; one daughter, Mrs. Bruce Phillips of Monticello, Ky.; two sons, James J. Chastain, Des Moines, Iowa and Arthur Hudson White, Farmington, N.M.; and 10 grandchildren.
