Obituary
Frank Gwin, Jr.
Frank Gwin, Jr., 89, from Tchula, Mississippi received his heavenly promotion on Friday August 2, 2013 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, Mississippi.

"Frank Jr.", the name he wanted to be called by young and old alike, was born on March 25, 1924 in Lexington, Mississippi. He lived most of his life in Tchula, Mississippi. Frank Jr. was a graduate of Tchula High School and Mississippi State University. While at state he became a member and later served as president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served his County as an infantry sergeant in World War II assigned to the Seventh Armored Division that fought in Belgium and Holland. In October of 1944 his unit was overrun by the German forces and he spent the last six months of the war in a German prisoner of war camp.

After the war he returned to Mississippi State to finish his degree in Agriculture. He married Anne Kemp in 1947 and moved back to Tchula where he taught agriculture to the returning war veterans.

He farmed most of his life with his father Frank Gwin, Sr. After retirement from farming Frank, Jr. worked as a project manager for Mississippi State University until he retired at the ripe age of 80 years.

He was involved in many church and civic organizations over his many years. When Frank, Jr. was a P.O.W. he promised his Lord that he would dedicate his life to helping boys. He served as the Scoutmaster for Tchula Boy Scout troop for over 28 years. He was known as a person who was young at heart and who loved to serve other people.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ouida Gwin and his wife Anne Gwin. He is survived by his sister Malie Gwin Sharpe: three children - Wyatt Gwin ( Wife Vicki), Curtis Gwin ( wife Rita), and Reggie Gwin; six grandchildren - Jane Hart Morgan, Curt Gwin, Anne Gwin,Frank Gwin IV, Elizabeth Gwin and Heather Gwin and two great grandsons - Bayard Morgan and Curt Gwin, III.

There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, August 6th at Southern Funeral home in Lexington, Mississippi. Frank, Jr.'s funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday August 7th at the Cuger Independent Methodist Church in Cruger, Mississippi with interment after the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington, Mississippi. The family asks in lieu of flowers please send any donations to Cruger Independent Methodist Church.
