Dr. George C. Phillips was born in 1835. He died in 1927 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Hughes Smith in Akron, Ohio.
Dr. Phillips practiced his profession in Lexington for many years, and possibly no man in the county was more loved or respected than he was. He was well read, progressive lovable and ruggedly honest. He was a veteran of the Civil War, serving for four years as a surgeon in the Confederate Army.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lexington.
