Vardell Parr Gilbert
Vardell Parr Gilbert of Lexington, 84, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, at Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with Rev. Daniel Balylock and Rev. Joel Smith officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mrs. Gilbert was born March 3, 1921 in Miller County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Samuel Parr and Jutson Dykes Parr. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Fellowship Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Joyce Gilbert Michael of Poughkeepsie, New York, a brother, David Parr, of Savannah, Georgia, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Jesse Gilbert, Michael Smith, Mitchell Smith, Jason Smith, Damien Gonzalez and Tim Meeks.

Honorary pallbearers were: Thomas Taylor, Jimmy Hathcock, Paul Roos, J.R. Gilfoy, David Meeks and John Downer, M.D.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, or Gideon International.
