James Erastus Goss
James Erastus Goss of Lexington, 91, died on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at University Hospital and Clinics of Lexington.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007 at Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with Rev. Mike O'Brien officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Goss was born in Carroll County on August 11, 1915, son of Henry Jackson Goss and Thetus Goss.
He retired as parts manager from Lexington Implement Company around 1999. He was owner of Goss Auto Parts, and manager of NAPA in Lexington from 1952 to around 1965. He was a member of Oregon Memorial Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Annie Loye Goss.
Survivors include a son, Dr. J. Allen Goss and wife Nancy of Crowley, TX; daughter, Cindy Goss Mansfield and husband Mark of Chesapeake, Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Tim Goss, Heidi Hutchings, Lauren Mansfield, and Chris Mansfield; and 5 great grandchildren, Holly Hutchings, Hunter Hutchings, Seth Hutchings, Ryan Goss, and T.J. Goss.
Pallbearers were: Clay Rodgers, Louis Ferrell, Phil Williamson, Mac Phillips, Chris Bethany, and Mark Mansfield. Honorary pallbearers were: Teat Rodgers, Gilbert Bradley, White Malone, Billy Zeigler, and Harvey Hearn.
Memorial gifts may be made to Oregon Memorial Church in Lexington.
