Claude H. Grantham
Funeral services for Claude H. Grantham, 82, of Sallis were held Friday, June 9 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant at 2:00 p.m. Rev. H. C. Adams was the officiating minister, assisted by Rev. Paul Cain. Burial was at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Grantham died Wednesday, June 7 at University Hospital in Durant.
A native of Holmes County, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and a World War II Army Air Force veteran. During his time in the Army Air Force he was with the 432 Bombardment Squadron 17th Bombardment Group. He was involved in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns.
Survivors include: wife, Loraine Grantham of Sallis; sons, Jeff Dew of Durant, Herbert Dew of Sallis and Bill Hornbeck of Frankfort, Kentucky; sisters, Nora McNeer of Cruger, Elizabeth Randell of Sidon and Agnes Overstreet of Tupelo; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Serving as active pallbearers were Hayes Grantham, Mack Grantham, Richard Roberts, Dan Randell, Evon Leigh and Charles Gregg.
Honorary pallbearers were Tim Jenkins, Sonny Brock, Mike Humphries, David Welch, Michael Beckham and Dr. Fletcher Shrock.
