Obituary
Harold D. Hammett

Harold Dodd Hammett, 74, of Lexington ended his battle with cancer and peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2012.

Funeral, services for Harold were held Wednesday, August 15 at 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lexington, Miss, with burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Bro. Joel Smith officiated the services. Visitation was from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Southern Funeral Home.

Harold was born in Lexington on June 2, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents Dolph and Virgie Hammett. Harold was a Mid-West and Borden’s sales representative in Holmes County for over 30 years.

Harold was an avid fisherman, hunter and a wonderful storyteller.

He is survived by his wife of 43 vears. Rosemary Frost Hammett; daughters, Sherry Hammett, Karen Harthcock (Mike), both of Brandon, Dayna Nelson (Eddie) of Yazoo City, Terri O'Reilly (Hayes) of Ebenezer; brothers, Richard (Chris) and Robert Hammett (Terrell) both of Lexington; sisters, Ruth Murtagh of Pickens, Libby Dittmar of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Flossie Goode of Madison, Brenda Adams (Thomas) of Brandon, Sheila Hammett of Lexington, Notie Turner (Mike) of Greenwood, Dell Tubbs of Brandon, and Tammy Courts (Myron) of Lexington.

Harold and Rosemary have seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Danny Dittmar, Johnny Murtagh, Rich Hammett, Hal Hammett, Dan Hart, Chad Adams, Chase Hammett, and Ben Courts.

Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Murtagh, Damon Dittmar, Dodd Turner, Jim Turner, Chad Tubbs, and Jon ; Hammett.
