Birth: Abt 1792 - Massachusetts
Death: 29 Jan 1842 - Holmes Co., MS
Died at Lexington, on the 29th instant, HASKEL BARRETT, in the 50th year of his age. The deceased was a native of Massachusetts, but for the last fifteen or twenty years had resided in this State. He was a man of sound intellect, of a charitable and humane disposition, and of the most inflexible integrity. At an early period of his life, he connected himself with the Masonic Institution, and few men in the State were more profoundly versed in its mysteries. He was Master of the Lodge at the time of his decease and for many years previousHis masonic knowledge, his zeal for the prosperity of the institution, and the ability with which he invariably discharged the duties of his station will long endear his memory to the Fraternity. Although he might not have been entirely exempt from the frailties incident to human nature, yet it can with truth be said of him, that both as a man and as a mason, no spot or blemish rests upon his reputation. By the irresistible decrees of Providence he has been summoned from his earthly labors; but we fondly trust, only to resume them in that perfect Lodge above where the Supreme Master of the universe presides. His funeral was numerously attended by his friends, and his remains consigned to the tomb under the solemn service prescribed by masonic usage.
