Obituary 

Mrs. Edith Lynn Herbert

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Lynn Herbert, 85, of Meridian were held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10 at First Presbyterian Church in Meridian. Officiating was Rev. Robert Horel. Burial was at 3:30 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. James F. Webb Funeral Home of Meridian was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Herbert died of cancer on November 7 at King Daughters and Sons Rest Home. She and her husband, the late John Garrott Herbert, were Lexington residents for many years.

A native of Clarkdale, Arkansas, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the Mississippi University for Women; a Master’s degree in Library Science from The University of Mississippi. She taught school in Lexington, Vicksburg and retired from the Meridian Public School System. She had been a resident of Meridian since 1957. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Meridian and was active in the Ladies’ Circle of the church. She enjoyed painting and needlework.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Lynne Bray of Meridian; a niece, nephew, and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Kerman Jordan, Tommy Dawkins, Gray Cobb, Greg Baldwin, Paul Watson and Christopher Watson.
