Obituary

H. T. Alford

Funeral services for H. T. (Burr) Alford, 70, were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from Southern. Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Gus Merritt officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mr. Alford died Monday at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson where he had been a patient for two weeks.

He was a native of Carroll County, and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Alford of Lexington; four daughters, Mrs. Paul Siltman, Quincy, Al., Mrs. Mozell Perry, Orosi, California, Mrs. Edward Cloinger, Gulfport, Mrs. Maxine Jones, Yazoo City; eight sons, Harvey Alford, El Paso, Texas, Willie M. Alford, Beaufort, S.C., Herman T. Alford, Jr., Redwood Valley, California, Larkin F. Alford, Kosciusko, George F. Alford, Beaufort, S.C., Lester Alford, Gulfport, Floyd C. Alford, Grandforks, N.D., Jeffie Alford, Lexington; three brothers, S.J. Alford, Reed Alford and Talmage Alford, all of Greenwood, his mother, Mrs. Agnes Mims, Greenwood; one sister, Mrs. Elgie Standard, Greenwood; 38 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hilton McMullen, John Word, Ed Word, Bob McLellan, Eddie Fuller, Bill McLellan and A.J. Davis.
