Last Rites Held For Hershal Moore Tuesday, May 8
Retired Lumberman Dies In Lexington
Funeral services for Mr. Hershal B. Moore, 71, senior citizen, former resident of Lexington and a native of Iuka, Tishomingo County, Mississippi, were conducted from Southern Chapel in Lexington at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, May 8 with the Rev. Gys Merrtt, pastor of First Baptist Church in Lexington, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joe T. Humphries, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Amory.

Mr. Moore, a retired lumberman and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, died Monday at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Williams on Andrews Street in Lexington.

His parents, the late Mr. George C. and Mrs. Ella Moore, were well known and highly respected pioneer citizens of Tishcmingo County.

Survivors include two daughters. Mrs. Jack (Vetrice) Williams of Iuka and Mrs. Charles (Louise) Stokes, Amory; four sisters, Mrs. Elbert Williams, Lexington; Mrs. Garines Woodruff, Mrs. Ray Waddle, Mrs. Thurmond Walker, all of Iuka; five grandchildren, a great grand child, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a legion of friends.

Interment was in the family plot in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Southern Funeral Home Directors were in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Leo Alderman. Nathan Aldridge, Vernon Hathcock, W. W. Holder, Calvin Moore, Malcolm Phillips and Billy Zeigler.
