Nell Elizabeth Pickens is the daughter of Hilda Downs Pickens. Her ashes were scattered on her mother’s grave by John Downs on December 12, 2024. She was born on September 9, 1946 and died on October 28, 2024.

Cousins of Nell, Hunt and Paul Drew Cade, John Downs were in attendance.

Hilda Downs Pickens
Mrs. Hilda Downs Pickens, 89, of Huntsville, Alabama, died Monday, April 9, 2001 at a Huntsville hospital.

A Prayer Vigil Service was held Wednesday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville with Rev. Gerald Hollaway officiating.

Graveside services were held Thursday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Southern Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Pickens was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was a retired nurse after serving 20 plus years in Indianola.

Survivors include: a daughter, Beth Galey of Huntsville, Alabama; and a son, Charles Flanery Pickens of Richland.
