Obituary
Hillery Edwin White
Hillery Edwin White, former Holmes County Representative in the Mississippi Legislature, died Friday, February 19 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Lexington. Rev. Michael O’Brien officiated. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mr. White practiced law in Lexington from 1930 to 1974 and served two terms in the Mississippi Legislature. He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He attended Mississippi State University, the University of Washington and the University of Chicago prior to earning a B.A. Degree from Rhodes College and a B. ?. from the University of Mississippi Law School where he served as editor of the Law Journal. He was elected to the Hall of Fame.

Mr. White was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, Kappa fraternity, the Mississippi Bar Association, the Lexington Rotary Club, American Legion Post and the First Baptist Church in Lexington where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Julia Robinson White of Lexington; a son, Borden White of Memphis, Tennessee; and one daughter, Miss Carolyn White of Memphis, Tennessee.

Pallbearers were Calvin Moore, Lammons, Dennis Steen, Bob Foy, W. W. Holder, and Bill ??ington.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Dier, Robert Swittenberg, ??? Moore, Clyde Maxwell, Jr., Patton, Bill Jordan, Herman and Pat Barrett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, French Camp Academy or First Baptist Church in Lexington.
