Frances Regenhardt Hines passed away at Indywood Glen Personal Care in Greenwood, MS on August 15, 2022. Frances was born on July 16, 1926 in Corinth, MS, the daughter of Joseph and Mamie Regenhardt. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women and worked as a medical technologist in Memphis, TN, where she met her future husband, married and began a family.
In 1956, they moved to Tchula, MS to take over management of her husband’s family farm. Frances was a longtime member of Cruger Independent Methodist Church, where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Society and also served as church pianist. She was an active member of the Tchula Garden Club, a certified flower show judge with the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, an avid bridge player and an excellent cook and hostess.
Frances is predeceased by her husband, Egbert J. Hines, Jr., her sister, Helen Adams, and her grandson, Brandon Hines. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Kenneth Hines (Leann) of Greenwood, MS, and Joseph E. Hines (Eugenia) of Madison, MS; by her grandchildren, Joseph M. Hines, Allison Hines Northcutt, Matthew Chambliss, Anna Chambliss Reid, Kathryn Hines Sanders, and Lee Hines; and by nine great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mrs. Hines will be held at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood at 12:30 pm on Friday, August 19th, followed by a 2:00 pm memorial service, and a graveside ceremony at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington. Pallbearers will be Jerry Eades, Bruce Edwards, Heath Killebrew, Crawford Logan, III, Kent Parrish and Chip Upchurch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001) or to the Association of Independent Methodists (P.O. Box 2028, Ridgeland, MS 39158-2028).
