Isthmeal Coyier Farmer, Sr.

Funeral services for Isthmeal Coyier Farmer, 78, of Route 1, Lexington were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Rev. Michael O’Brien officiated with interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mr. Farmer, a native of Holmes County, died Wednesday, March 2 at the Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington. He had served as a deputy for the Holmes County Sheriff’s office for 5 1/2 years, and retired after 14 years with the Mississippi Game & Fish Commission. Mr. Farmer also had farming interest in the county. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Meriwether Farmer of Route 1, Lexington; one son, Joe Mills Farmer of Pensacola, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Collins of Cleveland and Mrs. Jeanette Caldwell of Flora; one brother, Cecil Farmer of Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Alford of Greenwood and Mrs. Rosa Mae Mims of Blackhawk; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Charles Ellison, Jerry Farmer, Johnny Farmer, V.O. Ingold, Johnny Word and Jimmy Farmer.
