J. T. Alexander Is Accident Victim

LEXINGTON, Feb. 21.—J. T. Alexander, 80 years of age, was buried in Odd Fellow’s cemetery at Lexington Thursday afternoon. Mr. Alexander died in Community hospital early Wednesday morning as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident Tuesday noon. Accompanied by his wife and Mrs. Arbie Mattox Nixon, he was returning to Lexington from Oregon church, 4 miles west of this place on highway No. 12. where they had attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Herring. On reaching the highway his car was struck by a special Greyhound bus enroute from Clarksdale to Jackson. His car was demolished and all its occupants received injuries and suffered from shock. They were taken to the hospital in Lexington. Mrs. Nixon sustained a badly fractured leg and other bruises. Mrs. Alexander was not so badly hurt. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. H. Dorsey, pastor of the local Methodist church and Rev. Judson Chastain, Baptist pastor.

Mr. Alexander and his wife lived four miles southwest of Lexington. He was a member of a prominent family of this community.
