Obituary

Funeral Services For J. E. Cunningham, Jr. Held Saturday, Dec. 5

Funeral services for James Emmitt Cunningham, Jr., of Lexington, owner and operator of Cunningham Insurance Agency in Tchula, were held Saturday, December 5 at 1 p.m. from Southern Funeral Home in Lexington. Rev. Joel Smith was the officiating minister, assisted by Rev. Dale Van Ness with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mr. Cunningham. 45, died Friday, December 4 of a cerebral hemorrhage at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi.

A Leflore County native, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tchula and the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member and past president of Good Hope Gin Association.

Survivors include his wife, Randy Russell Cunningham; son, James E. “Bubba” Cunningham, III, of Lexington; daughter, Quinn Cunningham of Lexington; mother, Erma Louise Cunningham of Lexington; brothers, George Cunningham of Lexington and Wilson Cunningham of Tchula; and sister, Carolyn Mirick of Lexington.

Active pallbearers were Harold Hammett, Jr., Wyche Hooker, Pat Barrett, Jr., Ellis Harris, Oliver Harris, and David Dillon.

Honorary pallbearers were: Charlie Mac Wade, Gilliam Gwin, Bill Murtagh, Guy Duke, Webb Franklin, Byron Sharpe, Sr., Wayne Self, Larry Clanton, Fred Dunn, Don Barrett, Bootsy Hooker, Dr. John G. Downer, Wilburn Love, Chick Weathersby, Ed Wilburn Hooker, and Rocky Lewon.
