Obituary

James A. Henley
Dies Friday

Funeral services for James Alonzo Henley, 76, were held from the family residence Saturday, April 28th, with the Rev. A. Y. Brown, assisted by the Rev. H. W. Roberson, officiating.

Interment was in the Lexington Cemetery with Lee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Henley was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and was a building contractor for a number of years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nurry Parrish Henley; two daughters: Mrs. L. M. Nixon, Raleigh, N. C.; Mrs. J. H. Willis, LaFeria, Texas; four sons, W. A. Henley, West; E. B. Henley, Pickens; J. A. Henley, Jr., Lexington, and S/Sgt. R. S. Henley, Overseas; two sisters: Miss Maggie Henley and Miss Molly Henley, both of Pickens. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were: J. T. Nabors, A. J. Hearn, S. Bailey, C. M. McDaniel, W. A. Ramsey, P. H. Williams, T. B. Lehman and A. A. Jarrett. Honorary pallbearers were his friends.

Brief Life History of James Alonzo

James Alonzo Henley was born on 12 February 1867, in Richland, Holmes, Mississippi, United States as the son of William Sidney Henley and Martha Margaret Williams. He married Nurry Evans Parrish on 24 December 1901. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Holmes, Mississippi, United States in 1910 and Lexington, Holmes, Mississippi, United States in 1920. He died on 27 April 1945, at the age of 78, and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Holmes, Mississippi, United States.
